Marriage and Family Therapy

We are all faced with a variety of relationships that we must learn to navigate on a daily basis. Whether healthy or dysfunctional, they exist all around us and they include relationships with siblings, parents, family members, intimate partners, friends and even work. Some of those relationships can be pretty challenging at times, causing us to become stressed, distant or cut-off, feeling misunderstood, anxious or sometimes depressed, while enduring sleepless nights become routine, and the fear of being alone overwhelms us due to damaged connections.

In my approach to the services rendered, I seek to understand my clients through their worldview as I believe they greatly influence thought, feeling and behavior patterns.

During our time together, we may discuss unpleasant topics that can lead to a wide array of emotions. This is a risk in any therapeutic setting. There are also great benefits to therapy such as improved self-esteem, more secure attachment to loved ones; thereby improving relationships. Wherever you fall on that spectrum of risks and benefits, it is important to talk about any emotions that may arise so that we may work through them together. Let me help you bring hope and possibility to your circumstances.

I have over 16 years of collective experience in the areas of Psychology, Human Resources Administration, Process improvement/optimization, volunteering, mentoring, advocacy, Psychotherapy, with expertise in relationships and parenting. With me, you get a professional who has not only trained in the mental health field, but who has also gone through many of life’s experiences. My work is client-centered and those experiences enable me to serve various roles and wear many hats to support my clients comprising: teacher, coach, parental guide, confidant, and more! That means I give the very best I have to offer.

R

Systems Perspective

In my counseling and treatment approach, I utilize various modalities and interventions based on presenting concerns. However, at the core of my work lies Systems Theory- which allows me to focus on principles or concepts that enable me to zoom in on the immediate issue and zoom out to examine how multiple factors or subsystems contribute to the issue. In doing so I am better equipped to not only treat the presenting issue, but also the most important aspects of clients’ lives which are part of the broader system.

R

Performance

I am all about performance and results; those that can be measured and even those a bit more difficult to see. My key metric is: “are CLIENTS seeing results?” It’s that simple! I am your accountability partner and cheerleader every step of the way.
